Our sponsors help bring together generations of people and our rich heritage to recreate an important traditional celebration, Old Home Day. It will be a challenge to top the tremendous success of the previous Old Home Days, and we hope that we can count on your generous support in this effort.
Sponsors receive significant promotional benefit from The Old Home Day Program. Sent to all homes in Dover, the program contains historical information about Dover as well as community information that residents will want to keep on their bookshelves all year long. Once again, this year’s program will be in full color, and we have five volunteer writers working on new content--all to further enhance the program’s value to our community. Sponsors also have the opportunity for signage at various town wide events, recognition in the local paper for their support of Old Home Day, a link to their website from www.doveroldhomedays.org, and our special thanks at the Grange Supper.
The mission of the Dover Historical Society is to collect, preserve, store, and display the materials from Dover’s past. Town wide events like Old Home Day raise awareness of our neighborhood bond and the treasure that is our common past. Preserving the unique qualities of our community for future generations to love and enjoy as we do today is a mission we all need to support.
Sunday’s events will include a craft fair, antique car exhibit followed by a parade of cars, hounds and horses from the Norfolk Hunt Club, silhouette drawings, old fashioned children’s games, horseshoe tournament, and more. Of course the Dover Historical Society’s properties, the Sawin Museum, the Caryl House and Fisher Barn will be open.
You can share in the fulfillment of this mission and garner the recognition and appreciation that our sponsors deserve. I hope that you will help the Dover Historical Society by joining us in support of Old Home Day.
Thank you for your support!
